A Message from the President . . .


Greetings Sisters, Family & Friends,

On behalf of the award-winning Memphis Alumnae Chapter (MAC),I am pleased that you have taken time to visit our website and learn more about one of the most prominent chapters of the Dynamic Southern Region of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated is a private, not-for-profit organization whose purpose is to provide assistance and support through established programs in local communities throughout the world. Since our organization’s founding in 1913, more than 200,000 women in the United States and abroad have dedicated themselves to public service through our Five-Point Programmatic Thrust.


The Memphis Alumnae Chapter was chartered in 1935 by five visionary women, bonded through sisterhood, who saw the need to address pertinent issues affecting the Memphis community. Throughout almost eighty-five years, our membership has grown to over 600 members who work diligently to provide impactful public service to the citizens and communities of Memphis in the areas of: Economic Development, Educational Development, International Awareness and Involvement, Physical and Mental Health, and Political Awareness and Involvement. 

Our signature programs include the Jabberwock and Jewel Court Programs, the Maggie McDowell Scholarship Program, our annual Oratorical Contest, and Rock the Runway.Our chapter also works to implement several national initiatives such as voter registration drives, EMBODI, Delta Academy, and our Delta GEMS program has been nationally recognized for its consistent, quality programming.There is strength in numbers and we are committed to aligning ourselves with individuals and organizations who share common interests and goals for positively improving the quality of life for the citizens of Memphis.
